Hip Injection
What is a Hip Injection?
A hip injection is a non-operative procedure for arthritis of the hip. Hip joint injections involve injecting medicine directly into the joint. These injections can help diagnose the source of the pain, as well as alleviate the discomfort. Fluoroscopic guidance helps ensure accuracy so that the medicine injected into the joint provides maximum benefit. by placing numbing medicine into the hip joint, the amount of immediate pain relief experienced will help confirm or deny the joint as a source of pain. If complete pain relief is achieved while the hip joint is numb, it means this joint is likely the source of pain. Numbing injections can be useful to determine what type of treatment your doctor will recommend. When injected into the joint space, time-release cortisone may reduce inflammation, often providing long term pain relief.
